How many smartphones can be sold in the states of the former Soviet Union in the next five years? How will new mobility concepts influence my business model? Strategic questions such as these and many more are important to our customers because their answers can have a major impact on the future direction of their businesses. However, answering them can be complicated because it involves the analysis of many varied factors and potentially large volumes of data.
It’s questions such as these that are dealt with by h&z Business Intelligence, the in-house competence center of the h&z Group for all research and intelligence-related tasks. It’s here we have the expertise to answer complex questions and help our customers who operate in increasingly challenging and rapidly changing markets. Success, and often even the very existence of entire companies, increasingly depends on the quality of such analyses and the validity of their evaluation as these serve as a sound basis for strategic and operational decisions. The quality of the data, the information and the validity of its evaluation are all of immense importance to the future of the company.
Valid basis for decisions
h&z’s Business Intelligence team conducts comprehensive market, industry and competition analyses, regular trend and innovation monitoring, and benchmarking projects for companies in all sectors, and identifies entrepreneurial market potential (see information graphic). At the same time, it provides h&z consultants with comprehensive or project-related data analyses. The h&z Business Intelligence (BI) provides answers to questions such as:
- Does it pay to invest in the targeted markets?
- What are the consequences of the digitalization of our industry and how should we react?
- Should we develop the new product?
- Which competencies and capacities do we need for what and when?
Furthermore, products, offers and business processes can be adapted to current and forecast developments with the knowledge gained through our analyses.

Decision-makers need solutions tailored to their specific requirements in order to reliably answer questions about their own company, the competition and fluctuating market developments. The central challenge in the collection, evaluation, presentation and evaluation is to consolidate the complex data from very heterogeneous sources and to ensure it’s reliable and user-friendly. This helps with making speedy decisions. We use our access to various databases and analysis software and for specific topics, we also draw on the proven expertise of renowned industry and sector experts.
State-of-the-art tools in the field of advanced analytics help us to focus on individual customer requirements when interpreting data. Through special AI-supported software programs such as Quid (see info box), for example, we have an accurate trend monitor and metadata screening.
By using the full potential of all available information through our analysis and consulting know how, we provide our clients with the solid foundation for entrepreneurial success. And this can make the difference between being a market leader or missing out entirely on new market opportunities.
Quid – a new kind of search engine
Since 2017 h&z BI has been working together with Quid Inc. a tech company from San Francisco. Quid’s technology platform provides an algorithmic system for mapping language and identifying key characteristics, relationships and trends. The central added value of the analysis system is the generation of so-called implicit networks. With this method, relationships between texts can be mapped and both the target direction of individual topics and their interactions can be determined. h&z uses the Quid tool to support project teams and to answer strategic questions more quickly.
As one of the market leaders for data, Quid enables its customers to evaluate patents, news, blogs, company analyses and other data quickly and efficiently. Through our partnership with Quid, we at h&z Business Intelligence are well positioned to support our customers in the areas of market intelligence and competitive analysis.
